WHAT IS COUNSELLING?
Counselling is a confidential, caring, supportive, and non-judgmental environment to help you find a way through any difficulties you may be facing. The counsellor will offer you honesty, empathy and respect while exploring issues you feel you would like to bring to counselling. The counselling offered is non-directive, meaning you can talk about anything you want to explore: past, present or future concerns.
Your counsellor will collaboratively help you to explore and find your own solutions. Counselling isn't right for everyone or even during certain periods of life. This is one of the reasons that Fylde Private GP offers a free initial session where you and the counsellor can meet and discuss whether counselling is appropriate for your needs.

WHAT COUNSELLING ISN'T
A counsellor will not give you their opinions, advice or prescribe medication. They will help you find your own solutions – whether that’s making effective changes in your life or finding ways of coping with your problems.

OUR COUNSELLOR
Looking for the right counsellor is a hard process. How do you know whether you feel comfortable enough to talk to someone by just a picture or a short bio? The best way to find a comfortable ‘fit’ for you is to meet them. At Fylde Private GP, we offer a free 30-minute session so you can meet Mary and discuss her style of counselling. During this session, you will both get a feel for each other and see if you're able to work together going forwards.
As an accredited counsellor/psychotherapist, and registered member of the BACP, our counsellor uses a Person-Centred approach, which takes into account your individual circumstances and uses integrative therapy to help with a range of short and long-term issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, low self-esteem, bereavement, redundancy, addiction, work-related issues, as well as disability and health-related concerns.
Mary delivers counselling for a range of people of different ages and backgrounds and can provide counselling for Employee Assistance Programs (EAP).
With previous experience as a counsellor for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAHMS), our psychotherapist can help to support parents through painful and emotional difficulties that they are experiencing through concerns faced by their children. Our counsellor has also worked for BAWSO a Welsh Government Accredited Support Provider, delivering specialist services to people from Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) backgrounds offering counselling.
We offer a free 30-minute initial face to face session to see if Mary is the right counsellor for you.
Please note our counselling services are only suitable for adults and older children aged 16 and over.
