The chickenpox vaccine contains a small amount of weakened live varicella zoster virus. The vaccine causes your immune system to produce antibodies that will help protect against chickenpox. The chickenpox is given as two separate 0.5ml injections, usually into the upper arm.

From 12 months of age - 2 doses administered a minimum of 4-6 weeks apart
